John Brush is my Name,
America's my Nation,
Middletown's my Dwelling Place,
And Heaven's my Destination.

That little verse is an adaptation of a quotation in Thornton Wilder's novel "Heaven's My Destination"; only Wilder's protagonist was George Brush and the dwelling place was Luddington. My Middletown is the one in Connecticut. By the way. have you ever wondered how many Middletowns there are in the United States. I think, without having checked, that there are a great many. I have been in the Middletown in Connecticut, New York, and Maryland.

As to the Heaven business: I will have to side with the agnostics but not with the atheists. I believe there is an Intelligence involved in the creation and sustainment of the universe.You may call it God, Our Creator,The Great Spirit, The Force, or whatever but the fact remains that you cannot view the intricacies of nature and humanity as expressed, for example, in our photographs and assert that this beauty, coherence, and complexity came about by pure happenstance.

I am a patriot and believe, with the Founders, that "(We) are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness".
