My first introduction to photography was in high school, where I took Graphic Arts for 2 years and got to use the Nikon FM2. I shot black and white, and there was a dark room at the school where we could process our film. I enjoyed that experience, but never really got into photography at the time. Perhaps it was the expense, or the chemicals.

Fast forward to present day. I'm a digital artist, and have been doing photo-enhancements for over 8 years. My friends and colleagues have constantly urged me to take up photography, but being more of an illustrator by nature, I was reluctant. Then several months ago, I thought, "What the heck? Prices are reasonable."

I think the main reason why I took the jump back into photography is the fact that it's digital. I can experiment and see results instantaneously, without committing to film or processing costs. If I had to change to a new roll of film every time I wanted to change ISO settings, or waited until I finished a roll to see my pictures, I don't think I would be enjoying photography as much.

Well, I bought a D80, and I couldn't be happier. I've worked with Photoshop for 15 years, and learning photography is completing my creative and artistic experience.
