Photography
Our projects often involve photography and story telling. Young people take photos on a range of themes, working alongside professional photographers and storytellers. These projects link in well with other creative things we do. Our young photographers have had exhibitions and love to share their photography with the wider community.

Homeland Stories is another of the fantastic projects we run at Brent Youth Volunteers involving memories, storytelling and photography.

It is a collaborative project and young volunteers meet to share memories and experiences and to gather stories from other people, both young and old, from the wider community.

Homeland Stories encompasses talking, storytelling, drama, filming, performance and photography to create compelling tales of life in the UK and overseas.

Homeland Stories works with professionals from creative and media industries, including storytellers, puppet makers, performance artists, film makers and photographers. So far the young people involved have performed their stories, created a DVD, had photo exhibitions and are currently making a Homeland Stories book.

    Lucy Williams Photography says:

"Brent Youth Volunteers are a very inspiring charity and I love working with them! They are involved in all sorts of innovative and creative projects which provide opportunity for young people to get involved with volunteering. Projects include photography, storytelling, film and other new media, environmental awareness, gardening, cooking, sports and building links with professionals and the wider community. They run events and are at the heart of volunteering activities with young people in Brent. Recently being awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the young people in Brent demonstrates the important role they serve in the lives of the young people they support.

I'm can't wait to see what they're up to next!"
