Bouwkunde Expositie's photostream

The days after the disastrous fire at our Faculty of Architecture, people have put an enormous effort to build up new educational facilities at the nearby sport field, other faculties offered space for the coming final presentations and altogether there is a collective feeling of responsibility to continue with research, design, learning and education. Though, the prevailing feeling among all students, researchers, employees and teachers is that of the sudden loss of the familiar building at the Berlageweg number 1.

Last week the idea arose to set up, during the timeframe the last segments of the faculty will be demolished, an open air photo exhibition near the building, containing special and important moments in the history of the faculty of architecture. Students are invited by the study association of Stylos to send images to ‘expositiebouwkunde@gmail.com’. A sequence of 100 selected images, sponsored by several printing offices, architecture and urban design offices, will be printed, laminated and exhibited attached to the fencing along the construction site at the Mekelweg. Besides composing a collective memory of the faculty, people are invited to send in ideas, in text or images, for the new faculty. In the following weeks, these images will be printed or added to the photo exhibition. A predominated feeling of a rich full past and a creative future of the faculty will dominate above the feeling of the final demolition of the following week.

De dagen na de verwoestende brand op onze faculteit Bouwkunde is er in een ongekend tempo gewerkt aan vervangende onderwijsruimte op het nabijgelegen sportveld. Is er gezocht naar alternatieven om de belangrijke presentaties door te laten gaan en is er een overheersend gevoel onder studenten, onderzoekers en docenten om zeer snel de draad van het onderzoeken, ontwerpen en leren, gezamenlijk weer op te pakken. Toch betekent deze dramatische gebeurtenis voor velen in Delft een abrupt eind van het bestaan van het vertrouwde gebouw op de Berlageweg nummer 1.

Afgelopen week is het idee ontstaan om voor de komende weken, de periode waarin het gebouw wordt afgebroken, een bijzondere en mooie herinneringen aan bouwkunde te verzamelen en in de open lucht tentoon te stellen in de nabije omgeving van het bouwkunde gebouw. Via de studievereniging worden alle bouwkunde studenten opgeroepen om beelden van de architectuur van het gebouw, lezingen, feesten of tentoonstellingen die de afgelopen jaren hebben plaatsgevonden, op te sturen naar het mailadres ‘expositiebouwkunde@gmail.com’. Een reeks van 100 geselecteerde beelden, gesponsord door verschillende drukkerijen uit Delft, architectenbureaus en stedenbouwkundige bureaus, worden gedrukt, gelamineerd en tentoongesteld op de bouwhekken die staan opgesteld langs de Mekelweg. Daarnaast willen we proberen de beelden uit het verleden te combineren met eerste ideeën, uitgewerkt door studenten van bouwkunde, voor de toekomst van bouwkunde en een nieuw gebouw. Op deze manier zal de afbraak van bouwkunde niet overheersen in Delft, maar de herinnering aan een mooi verleden en een creatieve toekomst.
