progress in replacing gear



Still learning about Photography and getting the settings down right on my DSLR. Hoping to learn more about techniques as the weeks go by.

How did you get started in photography?

I started thinking about photography while spending a semester in Austria during my sophomore year in high school. While studying there I had an opportunity to use the school's Black & White Photo lab. Many nights where spent peering over the shoulders of my dorm mates watching and learning basic techniques. By the end of 6 months I had inherited a cousins Carl Zeiss Contaflex 35mm and was buying my own chemicals and paper.
Since then my travel photography has moved into DSLR realm with my first digital camera a Sony Cybershot in 2000, first DSLR in 2005 the Nikon D50 and now my most recent aquisition the Nikon D90

What and/or who has influenced you or helped sculpt your individual shooting style?

I like to travel and take road trips whenever possible. I pack my gear bag before I pack any clothing. My main influence for improving my photography has to be National Geographic Magazine. Since childhood I have loved getting my hands on it. I used to be frustrated with my family's 35mm camera in that my point and shoot pictures never where as inspiring or colorful as their staff photographers. How ever I think I am getting closer to the way I would like my photos to appear.

To what locations has your hobby taken you?

I cant say its solely been photography that has taken me to 30+ countries but it has made me venture away from the touristy places and down the unbeaten path, trail, alleyway etc..

Where is your primary geographic location or area of work?

Currently I live in Seattle, Washington which lends to road trips along the West Coast. Previously I lived in Washington DC; Paris, France; Wien, Austria and Budapest, Hungary.
