Mike is a man who has traveled the world - Africa, Italy, Spain, New Zealand, Costa Rica, France - with each place his feet have touched the ground, he has taken all of us here at Flickr along for a remarkable visual journey.
All of his photographs are radiant with life - they evoke a variety of emotions from the viewer and offer a unique perspective of all the countries he has visited. When I first discovered his photo-stream, I was absolutely astonished! I continuously mentioned how he totally had to be working for National Geographic, as his photographs, much like those found in the magazine, left a powerful impression and permanent impact upon me.
I admire Mike as photographer for the honesty that lies in his photographs. He doesn't present his subject(s) with a mixed connotation, what we see as the viewer is as real as it gets. One of the most engaging examples of this is a photograph taken in Achuapa, Nicaragua. It is entitled 'To evoke emotion', of which a young man is lying dead on the side of the street. While the image is tragic to all who look at it, it forces across a harsh reality that such an atrocity happens everyday, all over the world.
Besides being a phenomenal photographer, Mike is also a remarkable person. The way in which he perceives life is both inspiring and refreshing. Within time him and I have become good friends. He has a very beautiful heart and soul - which is very rare to find in a person these days! I hope to one day have the great honor of taking photographs along side him, along with chugging a gallon of milk with chocolate chip cookies.
Never stop inspiring travelin' man.
