Biography

Shell Jiang was born and raised in Shanghai, China. From the time she could pick up a twig and make wiggly lines on the ground artistic expression has had a special place in her heart. She is a freelance photographic artist today and her unique perspective on culture and people puts her in a class of her own. Shell picked up her first camera in 1999 and it has been her faithful companion during her extensive travels around the world. She saw China, India, Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Korea, Australia, the United States... through the lens of her camera and it brought a full range of emotions into focus... She met children whose innocence and fearless spirit transcended poverty and sadness. She saw the most amazing sunsets that would leave anyone in awe and stop time. She stepped onto lands laced with ancient legends and captured some of the most amazing historical and natural marvels. Her lens focused on peace and serenity as well as on noise and restlessness of places and their inhabitants... Shell's images make us feel human, -real, whole and powerful.

In 2007 she decided to leave the corporate career and to pursue her dream as a freelance photographer in the United States. Her sense of wonder, her love for exploration and her refined taste for beauty keep her searching for more and expanding her professional horizons. After successfully launching her Fusion Art in February of 2009 in Austin, Texas, Shell has been actively showing her work at various solo and group exhibitions. After moving to San Francisco in 2009 Shell discovered yet another venue for her art work, - the grace and elegance of dance photography. Shell's natural talent to capture beautiful lines, various forms of dramatic expression and sharp as well as soft, flowing movements truly gives her images a unique quality of their own.

Her studio and on-location artwork emphasizes the intricate play of light and capturing of emotion. Shell's work ranges from small scale newborn and family portraiture sessions to large scale on-location shoots with subjects including children, families, fashion, corporate professionals, artists, art and architecture, weddings and other special occasions and events. While Shell's technical skills are polished to perfection, her images are truly unique and full of soul.

She is currently working out of her studio in San Francisco and is available for standard and custom sessions. While mainly working with clients in the bay area, she is open for discussion of destination events and travel. All of Shell's images are licensed for personal and commercial use. Fine art prints and framed art work are also available for purchase.
