I wrote the following introduction for the group "The World Through My Eyes" and thought I'd put it over here too. It's a great fun, friendly and active group, consider joining. =) I had the honor of being an admin to this group.

My name is Beatrice Murch. I have a website with a pretty detailed bio, so you can read that if you're interested. I also write a blog on livejournal. If you want to know my thoughts, have a look. ;-)

I joined Flickr in October of 2005. I have been taking pictures for a long time, but I feel like I only shoot photographs every once in a while. I took a photography class in University for my Art History major and that was great and have continued learning with courses and lectures over the years. I learned a little bit, but seeing all the photos here, I still have a lifetime left. Every time I think I have a good shot, I look at some of the fantastic stuff on Flickr and think, oh crap, I'm nowhere near that good. I had a little point and shoot Konica Minolta Dimage X50 until I cracked the LCD screen. I now have my Digital SLR camera, a Nikon D40 and another point and shoot that I carry around with me always - Canon PowerShot 870. I do minimal post processing in Aperture. I sort of know my way around Photoshop, and am learning Gimpshop. I like my photos based in reality. Usually the enhancements I make are to bring them more in line with what I actually shot.

I lived most of my life in the Bay Area of California, living in the great city of San Francisco from 1999-2006. Yes, I'm one of those weird whacky liberals you keep on hearing about. Now though, my husband and I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina as we learn Spanish, get a clue about the rest of the world and see how people outside the United States live. To say Americans are lucky and blessed doesn't even begin to describe it. I write posts on my blog as and when I can and usually attach a photo or four from flickr. I have been writing about our travels around South America and our relocation to Buenos Aires and a little bit of politics. More often than not, the photos I blog are mine, but sometimes I use a CC licensed photo because I can and they're more suited to what I'm writing about.

Here's a photo I took of Kragen and I in our little apartment we rented in Buenos Aires in Dec 2006 for my mom to put on the fridge back home. ::waves hi::

If you would like to use some of my photos, you can send me an email at beatrice at canonical dot org for more information. It would be great if you would "favorite" the photos you want to use, if you have a flickr account, so that I can see which ones you are talking about.

    Åsta says:

"B's been my friend and hunting partner in crime for quite a while now. Our partnership has ended, but the friendship certainly hasn't. B is one of the most friendly, helpful and amazing persons I've met on Flickr. Even though I haven't had the honor to meet her in person, I think she knows that she (and Kragen of course; Hi Kragen!) is welcome to the land on the other side of the world any time! And then there's the pictures. B's adventuring and discovering the motives with a combination of energy and aesthetics that keeps amazing me. Never close your great eye, Bea - keep it coming :-)"
