Photography has been my artistic medium for about 15 years, about the time I started visiting Monhegan Island in Maine. With an art background, I have always 'seen' photographs, but I left the photography to others. Ordinary, daily, and/or decaying things excite me more than epic vistas and look for perfection in the imperfect.
Sometimes, even if I have my camera at hand, I put it down and commit the image to memory, or just let it go.
I observe the sky more intently now--the changing canvas from morning to night, from clear to storm . . .
