I have a passion for photography, poetry, prose, art, fantasy, vampires . . . what can I say?! Oh, yeah . . . I'm a geekgirl- have worked in the computer world almost ALL my career! My husband and I live on the banks of the Elk River, from which I take MANY of my inspirations! We have a veritable ZOO of animals- do cat AND bird rescue, and have a number of each with us, as well as 3 miniature Schnauzers, a couple of guinea pigs, and 5 aquatic turtles!

As for Flickr and photography out here- THIS is what it's all about! Sharing, encouraging! Honestly, everyone has something different to say in a photo- a different view, an angle, a thought, an idea. Some of it seems so different, some of it seems the same- it is all an expression of humanity! I believe that photography is NOT ONLY to show the beautiful and the grand, but to shed light on the ordinary things that are extraordinary in their own way, to show things NOT so beautiful, to show TRUTH in many expressions of the format.

I have always been a writer, a crafter with words; Flickr allows me now to immerse myself in the medium of photography I have so swiftly grown to love- in the lights and shadows, in the stark and the rich, in the monochrome and the virbrant colors of our passions out here in the ether!

As most of you know, we suffered a great tragedy in July of 2009- suddenly loosing our daughter, Jamie Leigh Meyer. She was only 27. She passed away unexpectedly while we were away on a business trip . . . She was our only daughter, who was living with us the last 6 mos. of her life while she was between apartments and roommates. The Flickr community has been a source of support and caring, ecouraging me to find a way to express myself, to cope with my grief, thought art and photography. I will always be grateful.

"E' sempre piacevole guardare e riguardare le foto di Kim,
sia che si tratti di foto di vita quotidiana, sia che si tratti di foto
che riguarda la natura o le persone.
Dalle sue fote emerge il desiderio di raccontare la storia della vita
attraverso foto in bianco-nero, attraverso foto con colori pastello,
attraverso scorci ed angoli del suo grande Paese.
E' un piacere avere una collega come Kim.
Un saluto dal suo amico di Roma, ciao Maximo"

"In the short span that I have known Kim, her work has affected me greatly, on a positive level. I love her abstracts...her nature shots...her everyday shots.. She sees the art and emotion in every photograph. It is through her eyes, that I can truly see why photography is a passion for people. Out of all Flickrites out there, she is in the top 5. Keep on with your great work, hun!!!"

    Images by John 'K' says:

"In the time I have known her I have always been struck by Kim's ability to capture a mood in an image, and how she is able to take what others may pass by as an uninteresting scene and turn that scene into something that you want to look at again and again...
She is a wonderfully expressive and kind person and I welcome seeing her comments on my images almost as much as I welcome seeing fresh images from her. Her images capture her thoughts and emotions in a way that words never can, and through them we all get to see Kim for the thoughtful, kind, and caring person she is.
Even in the face of immense tragedy she has used her artistry with a camera to share her thoughts and feelings with us, releasing some of the pressure of the unimaginable sadness that she must be experiencing.
Kim, you are a true artist, and someone I am honored and proud to call a friend."
