Ireland's environmental organisations organised the Biodiversity Snapshot project in May 2007. As part of a series of events and activities to celebrate National Biodiversity Week, we asked people to take photos of any aspect of BioDiversity in Ireland. This gallery is the result.

Over 100 photos in the gallery show different aspects of biodiversity in Ireland including birds, insects, trees and marine life. 12 different environmental organisations took part in national biodiversity week, organised in partnership with the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government.

There are 2 websites covering the week - www.eengosec.ie and www.noticenature.ie If you enjoy the photos, you may wish to visit those websites and learn more about nature in Ireland - the wonderful variety of creatures and plants, the threats they face and why looking after nature is good for us all.
