I use Canon 500mm and 300mm f/4L IS lenses on a Canon 20D camera body for most of the bird photos. Sometimes I rent a 500mm lens from my local camera store, Keeble and Shuchat. More and more these days I use the Canon 1.4X II teleconverter. I use a Gitzo 1227 tripod with an Acratech Ultimate Ballhead. I use the camera in RAW mode, writing to Lexar 1GB 40X Compact Flash cards.

I catalog my images using iView MediaPro on my Powerbook. I process them using Adobe Photoshop CS and its Camera Raw plug-in. I sometimes apply the PictureCode Noise Ninja Photoshop plug-in. I print using an Epson R800 printer onto various Epson papers.

I also write a blog about photography, music, and birding. My wife and I do a lot of birding, we publish our birding notes on-line.
