I am older than dirt, and have been taking pictures since I was 12. I like to edit the photos that I have taken, and sometimes manipulate them. I love the mountains, and have been involved in Boy Scouts for over 50 years. My wife and I have been married for over 40 years, and have raised three boys and two girls. We only have two grandchildren.

When I started photography, I used a Brownie Hawkeye, then graduated to a Rollicord then a Rolliflex. The pictures I took with these, are usually square and black/white. In the Navy, I bought a Nikormat (the little brother to a Nikon) and a Nikanos (an underwater Nikon). I used these for both color and black/white. All of the film from these cameras I developed myself. Some time back I bought a Sony Mavika and a Sony camcorder. The camcorder broke, but I sometimes still occasionally use the Mavika. Recently a friend was upgrading to a digital Nikon, and gave me his Nikon F100 with two zoom lenses. I like film because it leaves a permanent record. I purchases an Epson V700 scanner that will scan my negatives, slides and prints into my computer. It does a great job. I use Kodak Portra film, and get that developed commercially.
I got tired of finding one of those special photo opportunity and not having a camera, so I bought a Canon PowerShot A 480. It's a wonderful point and shoot that fits into my shirt pocket. I also use it for times that I want a photo without the processing delay. Recently I splurged and bought a Nikon D7000 body and use the lenses from the F100. I am very pleased with the results.

In the past I had been making contacts and marking them as friend immediately, and hoping, sometimes in vain, that they would reciprocate. I have recently changed this, If you mark me as a friend and let me know, I will probably mark you also as a friend. A major exception is if you have an empty photostream or your photostream is not a SAFE one.

Concerning those who steal photos from someone and post them as their own: I know that even though I'm older than dirt, I am somewhat naive. I don't post photos taken by others (except my family) and post them as my own, and I trust others to be honest as well. If, however, I find out that my trust is misdirected, I will drop that person from my contact list. If I see that anyone is posting photos from another photographer, I have no problem with informing the original photographer, and anyone else I know that this is occurring.

Bottom line: if you post photo belonging to others, stay away from me.

I might add that I love COMMENTS (but not flames)

    jaklumen & family says:

"Bill is my father-in-law and I have had a chance to see his photography hobby up close and personal. He's been a great inspiration to my wife (sitori6, his daughter) and I in our own photographic pursuits. When he was looking for a good site to share photos, I suggested Flickr, along with a few alternatives. Obviously he really likes it here and so I have gotten a little more involved myself as well.

He knows more about film-based/35mm photography than I do but I can say that his choice of a point-and-shoot digital camera is a good one; if you look at photos by me or my wife you'll see that we use a camera in Canon's PowerShot series as well."
