Welcome to the site of the BikeRescue Project in the UK ..
We are in our 4th year of operation now & having started with 57 bikes in Bernies garden in july 2006 .
The project grew from the original BikeRescue , an AA for cyclists run by Andy .
With the change in waste regulations it was no longer possible for individuals to rescue bikes from the waste sites & re-use them .
Bernie & Andy were inspired by a seminar at the Bike station in Edinburgh & so the BikeRescue Project was born.
To date in january 2010 we have now recycled over 4000 bikes ..
Andy has now moved on .
Bernie still gets the chance to get her hands dirty stripping down an AW hub once in a while but is mainly project manager & queen of the art bikes .
The project would never have blossomed & grown so rapidily without all its wonderful staff & volunteers .
We hope you enjoy seeing what we have been up to & all the lovely bikes we find homes for .....
