Retired IT professional living in Connecticut. I bought my first serious camera in 1964 after I got my draft notice. It was a range finder camera - the 35mm version of point-and-shoot. My first SLR, and probably the best, was a Besler-Topcon that I bought in 1966 after getting out of the army. I still have 3 35mm SLRs but haven't used them in some time.

I'm an average photographer but I keep plugging. I love digital because it levels the playing field. Now everyone can take lots of shots, not just the wealthy or the professionals. Film people would have you believe that they carefully compose the perfect shot before pushing the shutter release. But on a flight from Baltimore in the '70s I met a fashion photographer who told me he'd just taken more than 20,000 35mm transparencies in order to fill a five-page spread!

I have two children, a son and a daughter. They both have master's degrees in National Security and Public Policy. My son is a high school teacher and my daughter is a Staff Sergeant in an army aviation battalion.

Flickr is additive but the people you meet are so nice!
