I've loved cameras and photography all my life, but really don't have much to show for it - mostly candid snapshots of the family or landscape photos for university lectures and field notebooks. I guess you could say my work is technically okay, but rather dull and scientific.

I'm hoping that will change! A couple of years ago, I bought a Nikon D50 to go with my knapsack full of old Nikkor lenses. Last summer I bought a Leica C-Lux 2 pocket size camera, and an Apple iPhone this past winter. I dabble around with Photoshop and the GIMP to edit photos and use iPhoto and Picassa to organize my images on my iMac and Windows Vista machines.

I took the plunge into the Flickr pool to splash around a bit, get inspired by others, and have some fun. I've become increasingly aware of my need to be more spontaneous, colorful, and creative.

Vocationally, I'm bipolar. As a fluvial geomorphologist, I study rivers and stream restoration. As a Mennonite pastor, I work for peace and peddle hope to my neighbors here in rural Pennsylvania (United States). I'm a happily-married father of four who enjoys gardening, fly fishing, drumming, and outdoor activities with my family.
