I am a textile artist and designer specialising in printed and embroidered textiles, based in Birmingham, UK.

I begin projects with a series of observational studies by drawing, painting and photography. I am keen to combine traditional textile techniques with new technologies. I do this by taking hand drawn elements and/or photographic imagery and then develop unique responses through sampling, using a variety of textile techniques.

Screen printing, hand embroidery, machine embroidery, appliqué, computer aided design and digital printing are all techniques I employ to resolve ideas. I will decide which combination of the techniques to use for each individual piece.

I develop imagery by celebrating everyday objects that may be taken for granted such as an old pair of shoes or a well-worn handbag. These objects can be functional household objects that may not have many decorative elements but by drawing upon the use of drawing, printing and embroidery methodologies, the finished outcome is an illustrative response with a whimsical, fun outcome.
