I was born in Beamish, Co Durham, UK and educated locally before studying music in London.
I became fascinated with railways from a very early age. I lived very close to the Tyne Dock Consett line and was able to witness daily the magnificent Class 9F steam locos hauling their 800 ton ore trains up the steep gradients to Consett. Sadly I came in at the end of steam but I was lucky enough to have an older sister who supported my hobby and helped me make my first photographs. Now, years later, I'm pleased to have this record of the last years of steam traction.
My other passions are music, travel, countryside and wildlife, walking and cycling.
