I am not an artist.

My primary use of flickr is as a repository of memories. I hope to be able to accumulate tens of thousands of pictures of people I love, people I've seen, places I've been, moments I've been a part of, etc. I want to be able to return to these pictures years from now (perhaps when my memory is faltering) to try to recall the moments, the scenes, the objects, the people and the feelings depicted. I also hope that those who are close to me find a similar value in these photos every once in a while.

A secondary goal is to let others in on glimpses of my life. I hope that people who do not otherwise know me will find these pictures interesting and/or amusing. One or two may even be informative. I regard myself as something closer to a journalist than an artist -- admittedly a not-often-very-good journalist.

Consequently I am not centrally interested in improving the visual aesthetics of my pictures. I find myself admiring people who take that approach and appreciate many such efforts I see every day on Flickr.

It just isn't me (so far).
