Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges! I don't have to show you any stinkin' badges!
-The Treasure of the Sierra Madre

Sorry couldn't resist quoting there; it's what I do. But I thought some explanation was in order, what with the name of my photostream and all...

A badge is a device, patch, or accoutrement which is presented or displayed to indicate some feat of service, a special accomplishment, a symbol of authority granted by taking an oath, a sign of employment or student status, or as a simple means of identification.
--Wikipedia

So here's what it might look like

And what does this badge look like? It can be a lot of things, but the running joke at my house is this. Many days, I am headed out the door for work. My kids will have started breakfast and they are usually coated with it. I will try to "blow kisses" from the door, and the kids (especially my princess of an eldest daughter) will have none of that. Hugs all around. And so when I go to work wearing strawberry yogurt on my shoulder, my wife and I grin and say "call it a badge." Maple syrup, chocolate chips, tears or snot, blood or urine, you name it: call it the badge of the father. I wear it with pride.

My latest project is to get most of the silly, bloggish-type stuff over to Facebook. If you miss it, look me up as "JET3.0" If I don't friend you right back, remind me that we're Flickr peeps.
