Back to the Future of Legal Research

Chicago-Kent College of Law
Chicago, Illinois
May 18, 2007

How can law schools stay abreast of the rapid changes in legal research techniques, and how can they best pass this knowledge on to their students? In 2005, we initiated this discussion by collecting data from practitioners about their research resources and habits. We have continued this exploration of the research realities, enlisted the wisdom of law librarians and legal writing professors from across the country, and again want to share our insights with you and engage you in the conversation.

This intensive one-day conference will explore a number of cutting-edge topics:

* the rapidly developing world of digital legal information
* learning from Chicago practitioners and librarians and from surveys in other large cities
* tapping into the legal blogosphere
* conveying research techniques effectively in the 1L classroom
* AND a wealth of selected topics in research and citation, including discussions of subscription databases, international law research, CALI research lessons, and electronic research and citation
