"One very important difference between color and monochromatic photography is this: in black and white you suggest; in color you state. Much can be implied by suggestion, but statement demands certainty… absolute certainty."
Paul Outerbridge

I live in the North West Highlands of Scotland , just a stone's throw from the astoundingly beautiful Isle of Skye , where the light can take your breath clean away. I do consider myself to be extremely lucky to live in such a wonderful place. I adore gardening, photography of course, and travelling.
I consider photography to be an Art form, and happily embrace the use of Photoshop, I sometimes like to apply HDR, textures and suchlike, as well as taking very typical landscape chocolate-box type photographs !!
Digital Photography enables us to be creative, but above all, it is FUN !!
Flickr is a great place for learning new skills from others, and raises the standard of our image making, with the added bonus of making new friends.

In case you are wondering, Photos Ecosse - it just means photos of Scotland - Ecosse is the European name for Scotland ! I am also a member of RedBubble under the same name.
I am a semi-professional freelancer and I regularly sell my images for travel brochures, magazines, websites, calendars, books etc., an added bonus to my fave hobby !

Images on Flickr are better viewed on Firefox which is colour managed, while Internet Explore 8 is NOT, rendering images oversaturated !

"Now that I am checking updates from photoecosse I never find an image I don't want to view for several minutes. Maybe it is because I am half Scottish but something is pulling me there. I have been online five times in the last week looking at airfares to the highlands. I need to go, maybe next year when the time to get away arrives. Bless you for being such a good travel ambassador for your country. I live in the town of McPherson where we have an annual Scottish Festival. I went this year (in the past I have been out of town doing photo assignments) and after listening to the pipes and drums; wanted to take up arms against the King and Queen of England - drive the scoundrels back south (OK - just kidding). I never thought that bagpipes were that cool but with all the drums - WOW! I gotta make it there and SOON! We had some excellent Border Collies at the festival this year and having lost our dog in July (half border collie) I was nearly in tears watching them work. I need to visit the homeland. Does it help that I drink single malt scotch?

Thanks for your wonderful images and inspiration to travel to your homeland (and mine as well!) - THANKS"

"I'm saying nowt about Barbara's pictures. They speak for themselves and don't need any words from me. Why tell Beethoven that he's got his notes in the right order? Just sit back and enjoy and admire. So it is with Barbara's wonderful images.
I do, though, want to express my appreciation of her generosity of spirit. She has made many comments about my own contributions to flickr, far more than I have made about hers, and always with a delightful, bubbly enthusiasm and, as I said before, generosity.
So thanks Barbara. You are certainly an inspiration to me and set the standard I shall always strive to achieve."

Barbara paints with her camera it seems ;-)

    She's an inspiration to me.
    All the best from Alf"

"Barbie rises early and moves about her small, little piece of this world.

With her camera and tripod as extensions of her spirit and soul:

She sees with the eyes of Angels
She sings with as if a choir in Heaven
She touches us with Earth Mother’s love
She soothes as a sip from the perfect cup of tea
She captures a world as mesmerizing and warm as her smile
She infuses us – through and through - with the most pure of light.

Her's is not art, but life itself.

Such is “Barbie.” Unique, captivating, powerful, serene, elegant, nourishing, whimsical, lush.

How does she see so….wondrously? I do not know, but I am glad she does."

"I don't know why it took me so long to find Barbara's stream of wonderful photographs - but I am glad I did. Her photography shows a great eye for the beautiful - she manages to get such wonderful landscape photo's which are beautiful in themselves (you are so lucky Barbara to live where you are) but she adds even more beauty with her skills in color - lighting and composition. A joy to come and visit and well recommended to visit often."

"Barbara's work is a joy to view. You add her as a contact and you are rewarded with work that oozes quality, style and personality and that leaves you wanting more. But what more is that you are in touch with a generous woman who despite having so many contacts finds time to be a real friend, offering advice and support. Her warmth shines through with the comments she leaves, and you will long for her latest images to enjoy.
Keep up the great work Barbara, and thank you for the fun and pleasure you have brought me and so many other flickrites!"

"I've never written a testimonial before. It's not because i haven't wanted to,but because i have a hard time expressing myself this way. But barbara is worth every letter i type and every feeling i have. Her hard work and knowledge of how she likes to compose a picture is pretty apparent with what she gives us to view. She has found time to help me when i've had questions about her work. When we make comments on each others photos, they are sometimes funny, but always felt from the heart. She has become a true friend to me even though we are many miles apart. Because of her help and heart-felt comments, i will always be steadfast and a true friend to her. Well i guess that wasn't so bad after all....see the effect she will have on you?"

"Of all my contacts on Flickr, Barbara's photosteam is the one I look for first to check for updates. Whether they be of the Highland or her travels around the world, they are always exceptional. Composition, light, colouring is spot-on. They are also always informative with well thought out desciptions. Her love for photography , the Highlands and it's people stands out a mile.
As a contact, she always finds time to leave meaningful (ususlly light-hearted) comments and you get the feeling from them that she treats you more of a friend than just a contact.
Oh and she's got a great smile !!"

"I'm still working my way through Barbara's Photostream. Such is the quality of her work, that you can't quickly flick through her photos, but rather each one has to be savoured. Every shot has dazzling colour saturation and perfect light. I use Barbara's shots as the benchmark which I strive to achieve! Truly excellent work."

"Barbara has a talent that is huge. The scenes of Scotland and the rest of the world are beyond belief. Her composition and attention to detail make these images so wonderful.

This talent spreads its way through her photostream and a trip along this path will lead to much joy. Take a while and let your senses feel as if you were there when the picture was being recorded.

I have more of Barbara's images stored in my favourites than any other photographer here on flickr. Thank you Barbara for so many excellent and exceptional memories."

"Barbara's zest for life comes across in her work! Some people might reckon that living in the West Highlands all you have to do is point your camera at anything - not so. There are too many mediocre photos around on flickr for that!
I see, in Barbara's photos, places I have visited many times and there always seems to be something new to see - she finds another angle. More power to your er...... whatsit."

She lives in one of the most beautiful mountain countries in the world, and brings a wonderful sense of light, balance and presence in her pictures. And her responses to others are always generous and full of obvious delight. It is an honour to be counted among her friends."

Glad to have you as a contact, I'll be keeping an eye out for future uploads."
