I began drawing when I was very young, influenced by a heavy diet of classic cartoons, picture books, fantasy films, and the kind of relentlessly offbeat made-for-television cartoons that, sadly, seem to have all but vanished since the Saturday morning lineups of the mid-1980's. In High School I also discovered fantastic fiction, comic, and scientific illustration, and designed characters, sets, and costumes for a large number of school productions including plays, the annual Christmas Parade float, and the Halloween Haunted House. I majored in illustration at the University of Massachusetts in Dartmouth, focusing on both humorous and dramatic fantasy and children’s illustration and on scientific and nature illustration as well. By the time I earned my degree, I had amassed quite an eclectic body of work, some of which can be seen in the "Older Pieces" Set in this gallery.

After graduating, I worked in a temporary position at a professional printing company which produces large-format posters and advertisements. While I was there, I gained indispensable knowledge and experience working with graphic design and digital art programs. After that, I volunteered at an online radio station, creating internet-ready graphics, banner advertisements for upcoming events, and animated gif images. I had a great time working there and stayed with the company until, tragically, the station was shut down. (This was right around the time of the peer-to-peer music sharing controversy, and several online radio stations were caught in the crossfire. Pity. I had just started to appreciate Metallica...)

I have just recently graduated with my Masters Degree in Education from Lesley University’s Creative Arts in Learning program. I have done intensive studies in children’s media and the integration of scientific concepts and art. I enjoy sharing my work online. To that end, I have this gallery of course and I’ve also contributed much original art, writing, and handiwork pro bono to several websites. Currently, I am involved in the "700 Things" project as well as several personal projects. I have also recently joined the The Comic Artists Guild and launched my Obligatory Art Blog.
