"It took me meeting streunerin and looking at her incredible photos before I started to see the X in everything.

Thank you for opening my eyes!

"Birgit's remarkable photographs take things around us so unremarkable and ubiquitious as to be nearly invisible, and make them look as unusual, weird and strange - and ultimately, beautiful - as they actually are. And the images do this without any special effects, juxtapositions or dramatic lighting. They do it simply by the way the photos are framed. In short, they are all about *seeing*."

"Of all the photographers I have discovered on flickr, streunerin is the one I respect the most. She has a vision of what photography is to her and and does not waiver from it in the slightest. Her photos show more soul than any I have seen and I am delighted to have the opportunity to see them."

"Not always, but quite often, streu will make the ugly beautiful. Not by prettying it up in Photoshop, or doing a Wow! angle or composition, but simply by showing it to us unadorned and unmodified. How many people can do that?"

"Stre is all about the X.

I adore her images. She is also gutsy and intense.

She is charting the world for me, and everyone else's, delectation."

""streunerin" - this is more than just a 'flickr-name' for me... it's fidelity, anarchy, heart, intellectuality, unique aesthetics, melancholy, joy... with other words: a personality and work with character.
her outstanding concept-work is like a magical turquoise X junction in our world - i appreciate and love it very much ★"

"I've been wanting to write this testimonial for a long time. I never miss a single photo but it is so hard to find the words that will tell you what it is in these deceptively simple images that is their gift. When I study these I often feel like I'm walking the top of a concrete barrage. There is water to the left and water to the right. It is all deceptively simple."

    Kalense Kid says:

"Streu, I was writing this in one of the streams we both contribute to, and realised that what I was saying was a testimonial. So here it is:

Your vision comes across strongly in your photos. I was looking at what someone else had said in one of these testimonials, and was struck by how exactly they said what I felt about your photos.

They are often of things we see every day and never notice, and they are full of succulent symbols of the everyday. I find it remarkable how much of a story each one tells. Your photos are a bit like a book with a humdrum cover. The familiarity of the subject will certainly turn many people away, but if they linger and read just the first line of the story, the richness of your vision will touch them.

Your photos are not tender, but they are full of sensitivity. Humans are seldom the subject of your photos or even present in the scene, but each photo is a picture of the human condition. Your photos are not necessarily easy to interpret, but to anyone who takes the time to look and understand, they give so much pleasure."

"I'm so glad I'm only the fourth or so person to testify on her behalf. Streunerin is so full of the raw authentic character I'm still amazed that I've never actually met her in real life. Streunerin's friendship is a unique type. I get the impression that she doesn't do a lot of things half-assed, doesn't let her friends down very often, and stays strictly and solely true to herself.
She's inspired an antiflickr movement that seems to be catching on and I picture her stuff up on galleries one day if for nothing other than her personal and unique vision.
Go through her stream, as the photos pass by you'll undoubtedly see Germany in a unique way, and the photos eventually blend together to form something thirst-quenching and tasty. She sort of pulls the wool out of all our eyes."

"Big things we see but we don't....what we really notice are the details...well if you can't even notice the big little detail's in life, let Streunerin do it for you, but look closely, there is a universe inside her Photo's....OD"

"Someone once asked streunerin why she felt the need to photograph an unfinished autobahn. Its simple really, because no one else would. She takes me to places I have never been and shows me sights I would never have seen and I thank her warmly for that."

"She is an "every day" inspiration, a person who who motivates others to think and feel, and only asks that maybe she gets some thinking and feeling in return. She is a good friend and a good person and she takes photographs that overflow the screen."
