I've been interested in photography since my parents gave me a rangefinder that was well beyond my abilities when I was about 13. Got an SLR (EOS300) in 2000, but then shelved it when the digital age arrived and I wasn't prepared to spend big dollars to get new lenses or a full frame SLR. Just bought a new camera (EOS 5D) that uses full frame and allows me to use my old lenses and save up for some new ones... and have suddenly rediscovered just how much more photography can be than just happy snaps.
