In 2002, I published the first issues of a magazine that would consume me for the next few years. You wear a lot of hats when running your own business and one of my favourite things to do was to take photos. I would attend a lot of events in my town, and sometimes had the privilege of being flown to one. Talking with people and taking shots was a good time.

Comatose Rose Magazine closed its door January 2005. It was sort of as if I were close to something, but not really there. Meaning, I enjoyed the many facets of what I did as head of a magazine (i.e. editor, reviewer, PR, layout/cover), but I don’t believe I was quite on target. And rather than hum and haw over if and why, I made a decisive move to stop the presses before my ambiguousness showed through on the pages. I also wanted to explore different ideas, which was next to impossible while working eighty hours a week…I definitely knew I didn’t want to work eighty hours a week!

Now I didn’t exactly spend the rest of my early twenties exploring ideas but I certainly learned a lot of myself!

Photography was the one thing I missed and regretted parting with and I’d eventually pick up where I left off.

I still love taking photos of events, especially musicians in their element. I also find myself drawn to urban and landscape photography.

I believe there’s an edge to what I produce; A classic look with a little extra. It’s my way of taking what is unique about the subject and turning up the volume a little.

Even with my experience in the entertainment industry I find myself in infancy when it comes to photos. My blog really is a form of notebook, showing all the crib notes as I go along.

My goal is to truly find myself as I progress in an ever-changing profession. Oh and I’d really like to quit my day job too!
