I Am 60% Weird
Honest officer, I haven't touched a drop!!!

You're so weird, you think you're *totally* normal. Right?
But you wig out even the biggest of circus freaks!

How Weird Are You?

I was born in Evansville Indiana and spent all of my life either there or across the river in Henderson Kentucky until 1999, when we moved to North Carolina.
My very first camera was a "Twin Lens Reflex" that I found at the top of Clingman's Dome in the Smoky Mountains when I was 7 years old. My parents made me buy my film and processing (or at least part of it) so I learned to choose my photos wisely and not waste frames.
I graduated to an "Instamatic" in the 8th grade and set up a darkroom in the basement. I read in the instructions for the "Instamatic", that when you inserted the "Magicube" (4 bulb flash unit for those to young to remember them) it changed the shutter speed to 1/60th sec. so I carried a used Flashcube base around in my bag for lower light situations. People would say "That won't turn out, you don't have enough light." I would just smile and be sure to show them the picture later.
I wantd to take Photography in High School but wasn't able to until my senior year. It was a brand new class taught by the Physics teacher who was also learning. I played around for a while shooting Drag Races (my other passion at the time) until other things took over in my life.
Then came my first trip to Alaska. 24 rolls in 2 weeks. I had camera store employees asking how did you do that? Can we enlarge that and hang it in the store? It's Nikon time. I was running $150 plus a month processing habit. I took a class at the USI. I tried to be a wedding photographer (doesn't work for me).
Then in 1985 I changed jobs and couldn't afford the luxury of photography. I did take a trip with my parents, to Alaska. It was kind of a last ditch let's see what I can do. Maybe I can get a job up there. They paid for the trip, I drove 1 0, 0 0 0 m i l e s .
After that I kind of lost interst for a while I still had all of my equipment. I always still shoot the family stuff.
In 2005 we planned another trip to Alaska so I decided it's time for this old dog to learn some new tricks so I started investigating and decided on a Nikon D100. Yes folks I went digital. I just wish I had bought it a year or so sooner so I would have been more familiar with it while we were in Alaska. I can't believe how much I've learned about it in the last few months.
Since we moved to North Carolina we have had 5 Grandchildren, in Indiana and 1 in California, so the Awesome Lady wanted to move back. So I started trying to make up for lost time taking all of the photos I should have taken and wouldn't be able to take after we move.
At Christmas we bought a house in Princteon Indiana. We signed the papers Monday January 26. It's official we are Hoosier landowners, and we have been living here since the first week of May 2007.
More to come...
