CHALLENGE YOURSELF TO EXERCISE FOR HEALTH !

On January 1, 2000 I made a New Years resolution to begin walking for exercise and heart health.
I began walking that day and almost every day since.
In 2005 I bought a bicycle. I began riding it in addition to walking and have done so almost every day since.

On January 1, 2006 I made a New Years resolution to walk/bicycle the equivalent of once around the world (24,902 miles / 40,075 km).
With only 3400 walking miles and 400 biking miles logged, I had over 20,000 miles to go.
It seemed like an endless journey, but I was determined. I have walked and bicycled almost every day since. I am proud of my progress which I present below.

My goal status as of January 1, 2012 (I am almost 1/2 way there):
Distance / % completed:11,584 miles (18,643 km), 46.5%
Distance / % remaining: 13,318 miles (21,433 km), 53.5%

Estimated year of completion at current rate of 4.07 miles per day: 2020

Walking: 634 miles (Total: 5996 miles)
Bicycling: 852 miles (Total 5588 miles)
Walking+Bicycling: 1486 miles (Total: 11,584 miles)
Average: 4.07 miles per day
Age: 64

2010:
Walking: 496 miles (Total: 5362 miles)
Bicycling: 934 miles (Total 4648 miles)
Walking+Bicycling: 1430 miles (Total: 10,010 miles)
Average: 3.92 miles per day
Age: 63

2009:
Walking: 555 miles (Total: 4866 miles)
Bicycling: 1123 miles (Total 3714 miles)
Walking+Bicycling: 1678 miles (Total: 8580 miles)
Average: 4.60 miles per day
