Growing up in Saskatchewan, I remember the breathtaking beauty of going down the hills into the Qu’Appelle valley, that slash in the earth, the chasm of leaf and fauna with nothing but flat grain fields beyond as far as my eye could see. The prairie gets into one’s soul - the dry wind that carries fragrance from miles away, the stark, harsh landscape that is both sturdy and fragile. As my family moved eastward into Manitoba, I fell in love with the green pine forests and clear lakes that enriched my prairie experience.

The prairies are my muse and my soul. I cannot imagine a more veritable expression of who I am. The prairie is life giving for me and I identify with it – my spirit, like the prairie landscape, is at once fragile and sturdy. My photography reflects the images that have been imprinted in my heart since my childhood.
