Let's clear this up right away: I'm a nerd. For those of you who don't speak the universal genetic code, my username means "start transcribing RNA" [atg], "stop transcribing RNA" [taa]. I chose it partly because I'm a nerd and partly because every other short username was already taken.

When I'm not behind a camera, I do science, computers, various kinds of wood- and metal-working (less of that now than I did a few years ago), and obscure jokes. I like plants a lot and trees a whole lot. I dislike poor reasoning and poorly made tools. I grew up in western Wisconsin among the bluffs and goat prairies of the upper Missisippi River valley, and I will babble enthusiastically about them if you're fool enough to let me. For ten years, stopping when I was eighteen (!), I made all my money by fixing windmills.

My worst photographic habit is trying to take pictures while walking full-speed, closely followed by abusing the fill light adjustments in Lightroom. If I mis-tag one of my plant images, please tell me right away so I can fix it.
