First off, the best way to know us, and us know you is to comment. Don’t be the silent majority, get involved!

We are AspenPhotoDad (APD) and AspenPhotoMom (APM) and both use this account. We mark our comments separately. APM takes our pictures for the most part, APD edits. Our Camera is now a T1i as of 2011. Previously it was a Sony F717.

Although some of our works are public, our family photos are friends only. We have done this to avoid some people here for the wrong reasons. If we know of you (as in you comment on our stream, and you have established stream), please flickmail us and let us know you'd like to be a friend. We do not respond to people asking for upgraded contact without good establishment first. We are not out to make a pile of contacts, only to maintain the very good ones we have and meet some new families from time to time. We guard with zeal our own contacts and trust them highly. We personally can recommend anyone that’s on our contact list – they are great people!

Make sure you are careful with your own streams and pictures. There are many wonderful and caring people out there in Flickrland and you can meet some great friends (work hard for them!), but also some to avoid. We have seen it all….people that seem good even when meeting, but turn out to have very bad pasts or motives, people that blackmail and lie their way through life, people that are vindictive, people that make fake accounts and steal pictures to portray as themselves or collecting of others, etc etc. It can be a nightmare without the proper vetting. Don’t become exploited or drawn into defending people’s pasts or bad behavior that is not yours. Don’t get drawn up on any side of flickr fights, just be truthful and upfront. Overall, BE CAREFUL. Protecting your family and your pictures should always be more important than anything. Think quality of contacts, not quantity, or popularity. Getting constantly “explored” because of your traffic with 100’s of contacts is a very hollow reward when your family pictures are being pilfered, or posted to bad sites, and viewed by people you’d really not rather have them. Keep your family pictures private for the most part. E-meeting and physically meeting some of the really great families on Flickr is very rewarding. If in doubt, probe however you need to, and know for sure if you suspect something. Also, share information that’s out there in public. Trust is important here on Flickr and you can only gain it by being upfront and honest with everyone. The people that don’t want facts and information out or that just want to attack and hate any way they can certainly are the ones to avoid.

We are an outside-the-box, progressive, and humanist family who loves being social, but don't confuse that with being foolish or reading that that implies anything more than it is. We do not condone or will be around any sort of extremism about any topic on both sides of any issue. Not out to crusade or condemn at all as we respect everyone’s rights; to each their own; but of course we pick who we are friends with, and we share information with anyone that asks and will communicate with anyone, period.

Please always do what you know to be right. Don’t just be a Christian or a Hindu or a Muslim or whatever you choose to believe in….be what you know would make a GOOD person of faith (or not of faith) to be. You are not a good person going somewhere good simply based on what you believe…it’s based on how you are and what you actually do. Be a good human!

We reside in: Colorado, front range.
We have been together: 10 years.
Our kids are : 8, 6 and 5 years old. (or there about)
Our religion is: Open-minded, educated, and tolerant agnosticism. We don’t believe you burn in ‘hell’ for anything you do or do not believe in, and we don’t worry about “which religion is right”. We simply love all good people and families no matter what they believe. Love people!
Political leanings: Progressive (not Democrat or party driven). We believe that things can always be improved. We believe in a strong set of personal rights and fully support every personal right our constitution affords in every way. We are humanist.
Schooling: A mix of homeschooling and public school. We believe in science over mythology and social trends and hope that everyone strives to support and want more and more human solutions and tolerances in the world.
