Indian born, lived in Kenya for 18 years and now in Montreal, Canada. I think if you look at my photos they're veryMontrealy (made up word but you get the point). I'm currently doing my B.A in economics and Math at McGill University.

Camera gear?
Just bought a Sony Alpha A700 upgrading from my A300! I will really miss my A300... I think it has taught me so much about photography that it will always be a special camera to me. In fact, I really don't want to sell it but I have no choice but to finance the upgrade in this manner. :(

I also do film work quite extensively. I mostly do film when I shoot for myself. I use a Minolta 700si, Minolta 400si, Rolleiflex SL35, and the Zeroimage 2000.

I started photography as a small hobby and now it has turned into a word that defines me. I'm sure a lot of flickr freaks know exactly what I'm talking about.

Flickrs a great place to learn and so many people have inspired me into following their roots and directions in the world of photography... I can't really say that I'm good at this and that because as someone who has been a serious shooter, I'm still very much in the development phase. I was once known amongst my friends as the film photographer. Nothing bad about it. It just means that while your friends take photos by the hundreds, you're careful about each of the 36 exposures. No trial and errors here. Its about getting it right once! No bracketting, no confirmation about whether you got it or not. After taking some 500 photos and developing them, I decided to turn digital and this change was instant in taking my clicks from 500 to about 15000 in the 6 months that i've had my digital... Most of which is Garbage. As I continue to pursue my ventures in this beautiful world of photography, I realise just how much film meant to me and I've decided to go into the depths about darkroom techniques and learn more about film.

I wouldn't call this a specialisation so much as something that i thoroughly enjoy and am hoping to get good at. I'll still be shooting digital, be it in a film fashion!

I spend quite a bit of time on flickr, looking through everyone's photos and what not. There are times when I make no comments whatsoever, and other times when I go out looking for that good photo to comment on. I know the value of comments, especially to an ameteur photographer like myself.

Acknowledging comments is equally important. You may have been added to my contact list, but if you fail to acknowledge my comment with a simply thank you, be it a thank you to 200 people who commented or just to my comment, I won't ever comment on your picture again. I think it's rude to not say thank you, no matter how great a photographer may be. Saying a simple thank you shows character and humbleness.

I've always been inspired by good black and white photos, though I'm still searching for my niche.

Event photography:
If you are having a small event and are looking for a photographer in the Montreal area, please send me an email at arvindeyunni@gmail.com or alternatively, you could just send me a flickr mail. You can view my photostream to get an idea of my style.

Please ask me before using any of my material on blogs and other websites. Its an honor to have your work appreciated by others but I'd rather you ask me first before finding out that its out there.

My inspirations:
Flickr has had so much to offer but without it's users, it would be nothing. Just another failed venture. It must be commended for its ability to instil a sense of community.

Here are a few contacts that i've looked to for inspiration:

For the fact that they're a couple so in love with photography and their beautiful style and the fact that they're always interacting with their contacts

For his beautiful eye and the how his processing works to produce powerful images that are so original and so unique

Again for his great eye and post work. He's probably my favourite wedding photographer of all times.

For her ability to work with shadows and produce images that are so truly remarkable

For the importance he gives to each photo, his love and passion for photography and fact that he's still so into film photography.

For still shooting film in medium format and being such an amazing artist too. There's so much that one can infer from one's photography and style... Hers makes me wish I had a girlfriend with her personality.

Yet another film photographer... His style, simplicity and love for photography. Very active among the film community and will always be someone that I truly look upto. If you ever comment on his photo, he'll always be sure to thank you for your comment and you can start a conversation with him. Very humble.

A fellow Sony photographer. I love his style, the chemistry he has with his subjects and how he always welcomes questions and queries. Someone you'd be glad to add as a friend.

I randomly stumbled upon Thierry's work and I can't express how breathtaking it actually is. His perspective and the use of lighting and work is simply beyond exceptional. I've grown quite cold on HDRs... Thierry's HDRs though aren't meant to make a crappy image look cool, but more to bring out certain emotion from an already great photo.

For his beautiful photos from India and his use of very minimal gear to take some of the best photos in flickr. A truly talented and gifted individual

I have also just started blogging. Having been inspired by so much in this world of photography and the power it holds, I decided to share some of my feelings in this blog. I hope you like it and please COMMENT!
I hope to one day have a few constant readers. That would be very encouraging. Right now, I feel like I write only for the blog to be lost somewhere.
