I have been avidly involved in the visual arts for over 4 decades. I began to specialize in photography in the mid 1980's. By the mid 1990's, I had moved to digital photography exclusively.

I think most people view me as a flâneur photographer, documenting whatever happens to cross my path. When I'm in the visual groove, though, it's more than just strolling and clicking. There's a relaxed awareness there that borders on mysticism.

I try not to approach photography with expectations of how things ought to look. I let my visual focus be unattached and spontaneous. Although it sounds cliched, I have found viewing the world through the filter of expectations can lead me to become attached to standard images and well traveled roads. Photography is more than smiling faces and sunny days. Photography is a meandering and poetic experience.

In other words, creative photography is intimately linked to moment-by-moment awareness. I approach it as I would play: no limits, no goals, no intentions, and unlimited serendipity. This is not to say that I have no direction nor favorite subjects. I find myself drawn to unusual views, reflections, quality of light, and candid portraiture.
