Art Hill's photostream
|
Just to get this out of the way. If you fav a picture and you have no pictures up and no profile information I will block you. I don't know what's up with that but it just doesn't make sense. Second if you make me a contact and I go to your page and see that you already have 500 or 1000 contacts I'm not going to reciprocate. You can't even look at pictures from 500 people much less comment on them. I do join a few groups but generally don't like the invite only and "you have to do this and that" groups. About the only "rule" I'm willing to follow is that you have to comment on a picture for every one you post.
I'm a life long resident of Chicagoland as was my father and his father. My wife is also a native Chicagoan. We have two married daughters with four grandchildren. They all live in Chicago. We love to travel though and vacation pictures have always been one of my favorites. I also like flower pictures and, for the past couple of years, grandchildren pictures. I only post a few pictures to Flickr so most of my work is on my website at www.WindyCityArt.com

"I first "met" Art Hill through another photo website over 8 years ago and have always enjoyed his great photographs and honest comment, especially his flower and glass reflective building photographs.
He is a true gentleman, and like others have said, an excellent example of a great husband, father and grandfather.
One of these days -- lol -- we might even meet in person, in either Chicago or Boston!"23rd June, 2008

"I met Art early in my Flickr history. Facsinated by his wonderful photos I made him a contact and am very happy I did! Art is an amazing example of what a husband, father, and granfather should be. I have enjoyed all his work whether they are portraits of his grandchildren, or his vacations, or his awesome flower pics. A very talented and humble man! shirl shootin' life says:
"I remember when Art first visited my photostream. I had seen his comments on other photostreams and had, on occasion, clicked his name to take a peek at his pics. Wow! I quietly enjoyed them and slipped away without leaving a comment because I was so intimidated by the beautiful and professional quality of his work. Nope! Didn't want to draw his attention to my pitiful renderings by leaving a comment.
And then one day, it happened...he found me. My heart pounded with the dread of it. It wasn't something directed at him personally...it was knowing the quality of his work and knowing that he was now looking at my little pics.
I've encountered photography snobbery before on Flickr, but, let me tell you... Art is not about photography snobbery! He is one of the kindest, sweetest men I've met. He has been such a blessing, and his encouragement, along with that of many others, has enabled me to gather the courage to step out a little further and a little further. His sharp eye and strong sense of the beautiful have delighted me over and over again, overflowing my favorites pages to the degree that I now jokingly tell him to 'stop it'! :D
The neat thing about Art's pics is that they have soul. I've seen many breathtaking shots other than his, but they often lack soul. Art has shown over and over that pictures can be beautiful and have soul! That soul you see in his pics stems from a strong beauty in his heart--loving, caring, gentleness. He is a man of character and a loving, doting, husband, father, and grandfather. He is also a wonderful friend.
Thank you, Art, for all the days of flowers, sunshine, interesting perception, tours of your part of the world, and love you have shared in your photostream. You are one of the many reasons I am such a Flickr addict--my only good addiction :D"12th August, 2006
