About my Photography:
I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. The desert landscape, full of wide open spaces and mountains coupled with the sprawling built environment have shaped my view of the world. The constant harsh sunlight provides lots of color, contrast and shadows for capturing. My subjects can usually fall into two categories: wide angle views to capture the overall feeling of a site for memory; and close-up tightly framed details that give a more tactile sensory recording of a place. The locations include both natural landscapes and urban environments.

About my Art:
Ephemeral Landscapes
My art is an attempt to capture moments in life that may pass by otherwise unnoticed. It may seem as if you do very similar things throughout the days of your life: working, eating, sleeping, driving, etc. As your life passes by, suddenly without notice an extraordinary moment can interrupt your monotony and provide inspiration. Then in an instant it is gone again. It is easy to forget these fleeting moments but they should be remembered. Moments like these provide inspiration for the pieces contained herein.

While you can view each work from afar, you must get close to examine the details. When you look closer you will begin to see each piece is composed of Arrangements & Assemblages of many disparate items that attempt to capture these moments before they are gone. These items include found objects, sentimental items, representations of people or places, scraps of newspaper, cut-outs of magazines, characters transported from forgotten films, thread, stamps, etc. and are mixed with paint to form an expression.

The process of making each piece is an evolutionary journey that begins with that initial idea. There can be many changes along the way with new elements added and sometimes removed or covered over only to be revealed again later. Finally a piece of life is hopefully captured. Similar to life, there is not a simple and complete image. Instead there are actually many layers, textures, shapes and colors. While my work tries to capture some of the transitory moments that have inspired me, I hope you will find elements that will spark a memory in you.
