I am a biologist, writer, explorer and fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.

In 1990 I gave up my job as a consultant in environmental affairs, bought camels and for 20 years explored the desert of Egypt and Sudan during the winter months with my small camel caravan.

In 2010 I traded in my camels for horses to search for the mythical kingdom Shambala in the remote Golden Mountains of the Altai in Russia, Kazachstan, China and Mongolia . I'm also exploring nature and the properties of time, space and reality.
