I'm Julie and I would like to welcome you into my creative world
I am a Narrative Artist/Illustrator with a degree in Surface Design currently studying for an MA in Contemporary Applied Arts, specalising in Embroidered Textiles
I am working on a series of whimsical embroidered Illustrations which will be exhibited at my MA Exhibition 12th to 20th September 2011

Tales From The Welsh Wood
Once upon a time, in a small Welsh village near a magical wood there lived a little girl who loved to draw
Her parents didn’t love her and treated her very badly so whenever she could she would escape to the peace and quiet of the Wood , climb a tree and draw the creatures she saw around her
The only place the little girl could find any love and comfort was with her grandmother who lived in a tiny cottage in the heart of the wood
Her grandmother would tell her stories about the faeries and other magical creatures who lived in there
The little girl listened in awe and really wanted to believe in the faeries but she was growing up and it seemed silly and childish
That was until late one Midsummers’ night .................."

One Upon A Seaside Garden
Storytelling has always played a big part in my life
Now that my children are grown up my baby grandson has found himself in the role of chief story listener
I tell him stories about my garden and the creatures that visit us there (both real and imaginery) and started to draw the characters for him
These have been transformed into stitched wall art pieces which I hope will make you smile

All my products are made from recycled fabrics hand dyed in my studio
