My interest in photography has been developed since I had my first DC, a FUJI 50i in 2002. Afterwards I had a Canon IS3 in early 2006 from Dad who accidentally dropped the 50i on the ground and stepped on it straight after. I was shooting with non-DSLRs till July 2007 when I bought myself a 5D plus a couple of nice Canon lenses.

In 2002, I moved to England and started my university, currently I'm in my 4th yr of a Ph.D degree. Most of the pictures here are taken while pursing my PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Cambridge. Cambridge is one of the oldest universities in the world and is rich in history and tradition. It is composed of 31 separate colleges, each with its own community and architectural style. This history and diversity no doubt makes Cambridge uniquely scenic.

Thanks to all my friends on Flickr who gave me encouragement and inspiration in photography. A long way to go, a lot more to learn. ;-)

P.S. A special acknowledgment to Sir Cam, one of the best photographers in Cambridge, whose photos gave me loads of ideas and thoughts.

    Sir Cam says:

"arctic_cactus is a very fast learner! what else can one expect from a cambridge phd student:-) i have been most impressed with her work and particularly like her experimentation with compositions. she is not prickly as she sounds:-) and i have been most pleased to have prodded her to develop her photographic skills. this is a young photographer to watch out for:-)"
