I started drawing in my early teens, heavily motivated by science fiction and fantasy. At school I used to come top in art. Not necessarily a testament to my prowess, just that everyone else was crap. I stayed on in 6th form to take A level art, 2 years after that I enrolled at college to do a BTEC in video and photography. For me this was the dawn of the multimedia age. I ditched the pencils, pastels and paint for a S-VHS video editing suite. I also did some anologue photography, developing and printing. Unfortunatley I didn't take it any further, ie degree level. Why? I have no real answer, just lots of poor excuses. It was some years later when I developed an interest again in photography and purchased my first point and shoot digital camera the Canon G2. When DSLRs became more affordable I upgraded to a canon 20d and my interest grew. I was fascinated by the technical side of it, experimenting and becoming more creative.
I joined flickr over a year ago and I must say it is a fantastic resource. I've since met lots of like minded individuals and enjoy their comments, feedback and support. A great community.
