I'm a Researcher with a growing interest in photography.

Trying to learn to take photographs, rather than snapshots.

I'd love to explore portraiture more, but am always a little at a loss approaching someone. However, I love nature and have more time to simply stop and take note these days, so I like to try to capture some images of nature be the flora, fawna or landscape. Things I perhaps forgot my love of for a while, when life seemed to interfere.

Since I've joined Flickr I've been fortunate to find so many incredibly talented photographers, some of whom I'm now fortunate to be able to call friends. There is so much to learn I find it fascinating, sometimes daunting but always informative.

I've a lot of images in my favorites by one artist Zhang Jingna. I make no apology for this bias, for I greatly admire her work, considering her one if the most prestigious talents to emerge for a very long time.

I worked in cancer research for many years and have several friends that are no longer with us so..if you don't mind, just to raise the general awareness of the need for continuous research in this area..
