Having grown up in Chester, I came to Leeds in 2006 to study a BSc in Nanotechnology. Since then, I have gone on to start a PhD in the field of Electroceramics, working on fatigue and failure of novel high-temperature materials.

I have always had an interest in photography, with it peaking in earnest in 2005 with my first film and digital SLRs. Since then I have been an active participant and committee member of the University Photography Society as President (2007-2008), Digital Supervisor (2008-2009) and Treasurer (2009-10, 2010-11).

My interests began with Macro photography, but have since moved onto portraiture. More specifically, candid portraiture: capturing people, moments and expressions at their most raw and natural. I covered my first wedding in 2008, a very memorable and enjoyable experience, as well as the 19th International Symposium on the Applications of Ferroelectrics/10th European Conference on the Applications of Polar Dielectrics (ISAF-ECAPD) in 2010.

As with most photographers now I’m heavily invested in digital equipment, but am always partial to loading a roll of B&W and doing some more traditional photography.
