The latest and greatest - Happily unemployed but broke. Had surgery on my left hand - CTR (Carpal Tunnel Release) in April.. Our household is now up to 3 cats! My sister's house got flooded by the monstrous rains in Nashville recently - but thanks to a bunch of wonderful friends and neighbors AND flood insurance, they're recovering well & quickly.

About Me:

I love art, paintings, photography, glamour, pop... but have never seriously studied art in school. I am a very amateur photographer although I own 3 digital cameras. When I worked at university a couple years ago, I was able to have access to several high-quality digital cameras and fell in love with the technology and the possibilities of usage. Also, I have done a bit of web page design and maintenance as well as setting up, running, maintaining several online mailing lists (listserv, Yahoo! Groups). I enjoy people's company wherever I am, so even here on Flickr I like to "work" where I can mingle with others and help out.

Oh, I came from what would be called an upper-middle class family, although I do not live that way today. My mother taught me to love classical, world, and folk music as well as broadway. My father brought me up to love architecture, photography, and antique postcards. So I believe that is where my eye for art and color has come from. As I child in the 1960's and 1970's I was very interested in collage work and then got into scrapbooking in the 1980's. My marriage in 1980 however rather curtailed any creative work for quite a while, but with the advent of the internet and personal computers I found my niche. :)

I am a flower child, a child of the '60s. I spent 8 years in the U.S. Navy during which I had the opportunity to work on many mainframe computers, travel fairly extensively (England, Scotland, Spain, Greece, Egypt, Diego Garcia BIOT), and serve on a Navy ship for 2 years. Altogether I have over 35 years in computer work.

I am 53 years old although my inner child is very alive and well! LOL You can meet my inner child by visiting my photostream and my favorites.

I currently have a major obsession with Apophysis, a fractal-making program. Apophysis is a mathematical computer program that crunches numbers based on formulas built-into the program, and some that the user can create, to generate branching patterns of color. The program is free to download and use from this address:

I've been using the program for a few years. I used to spend several hours a day working with it. Nowadays I've moved on with my interests and only get back to fractal making periodically.
