CORDAN says:
"I came across Armen's photo stream one night as I was looking good black and white photos. I found this fantastic photographs that really grabbed my attention.
They were of different bands playing in low lit clubs. Some of the hardest shots to take. A person has to know his camera, and have the confidence to take the shot. Their timing has to be prefect.
I hear people say that shooting bands is easy as you have lots of floodlights etc. Anyone who does, knows that's just not true. The lights are setup for the house, not the photographer. Also, you have band members who are on the move. They don't stand still and say "cheese" for you.
What impressed me was Armen's skills to not only have the lighting down, but also the timing. Many of his shots are in Black and white, He doesn't rely on the floods to give him color. He has to time each shot to use the best light he can get. He gets in, he waits and hits the target over and over.
Also, shooting bands, it's hard. Many people end up with those birthday cake type shots of puffed up cheeks and closed eyes. Not Armen. Again, he times it, he gets those candid shots that make everyone look great. He's not afraid to use different points of view to make it interesting.
I've come to really enjoy Armen's work and look forward to his posts. He is talented, he is creative, he is an artist.
Take some time to explore his photostream. You won't be disappointed."2nd November, 2009
