Ask any blacksmith what his most important and valuable tools are and he'll tell you it's his hammer and his anvil. The anvil is the tool that lets the blacksmith work his craft. A good anvil is not just some chunk of metal to wail away on. An anvil works with the smithy to make his work easier; its liveliness sets up a rhythm so the hammer will jump back from it, reducing the smith's effort while at the same time providing a solid foundation to make the most out of his energy. A good anvil would last a smith his whole life.

A bicycle has the same purpose; it is the tool that a cyclist works upon. Anvil frames and tooling are named for that special quality and the synergy between a craftsman and his tools. They're built to hammer on!
