Greetings....thanks for stopping by :-)

I've been with flickr since Sept. 2006....my brother Tom (vrot01) turned me onto this site and it is very addictive to view the work and words of so many talented folks. I've really enjoyed the flickr community and have even had the good fortune to meet some of my flickr pals, which has been lots of fun....

I started shooting pics as a hobby when I joined flickr and got my Panasonic Lumix. I currently live in the burbs of Memphis, TN, but have travelled all over and spent 6 yrs living in Asia (Hong Kong and Singapore)....so have seen much of that region and a bit of Europe. My job used to be very heavy international travel, so I was one of those 'road warriors' for many years....living out of suitcases and hotels.....flying on more transpac and trans atlantic flights than I ever thought possible. At one point I spent 5 months living out of a hotel in Tokyo....the movie 'Lost in Translation' hit a cord with me as I felt like I lived much of that film. About 9 years have passed since those days.....Once I returned to the states and the heavy traveling phase of my job ended, I just wanted to nest in my casa....determined to see a bit of my home country, have a house with a yard, plant flowers (you get the idea...) But, in the past couple of years, the travel bug has once again emerged, so I'm often on the move... wandering and exploring this amazing world....

Besides travel and snapping, other things high on my list of favorite things are: family and friends, reading, music of all types, cultures other than my own, good vino, interesting films, hanging out with my dogs, art and doing what I can to help others.

So if you found your way here and comment or fav some of my pics, I'll try to drop in and check out your pics as well. :-)

Update Dec. 2008:
I crossed over to DSLR land in the spring of 2008, with the purchase of my canon xsi and a number of lenses...I am still very much learning and am fairly embarrassed how little I know about my camera and about photography in general...but I've promised myself to focus on this a bit more in 2009...

On the job front, what goes around comes around and I've been traveling more again for work lately, mostly international locations which has been fab...

"Ann is an image architect. There is Imagist poetics esp. in her street and architecture photos. Like those Cubists and Imagists such as e. e. cummings, William C. Williams and Ezra Pound, her photographic language is concise by presenting concrete elements as they are and studying their essences from the abstract. I've learned from Ann to observe and appreciate the beauty of architectural details as well as the reflections ignored by me and many others. She has a UNIQUE eye for deconstructing modern art and for reconstructing historical heritages such as her impressive Turkish set. Ann is a beautiful soul just like her couleurs set, full of passions for life and love for friends and family. Dear Ann, thank you for having inspired me in many ways with your images and encouraging comments! I feel so blessed to have come to know you and become your friend!"
