I am a watercolor painter and illustrator who likes to work directly from life.

A watercolor kit is easy to carry around. Painting takes less time than drawing to capture a moment, and when the work is good, it invites the viewer to meet it half way and fill in details that are only indicated. I had a great teacher, Mario Cooper, at the Art Students League in New York City. He said many things that I remember and try to employ. Three of the best were "Leave em hungry, kid." and "Let them finish it with their eyes." and above all, "Keep it simple".

In addition to the paintings, I have uploaded all too revealing photos and videos of animals in a crumbly old apartment that crowd, cost and richen our lives.

I am married to David Millman. He takes haunting, gorgeous black and white photographs at night using only available light. He prints them himself in a converted "maid's room" in our apartment and barely shows them to anyone. Someday I will scan some to show you.
