    Least Wanted says:

"Tight toy night, streets were so bright.
The world looked so thin and between my bones and skin
there stood another person who was a little surprised
to be face to face with a world so alive.
    I fell.

Didja feel low? No, not at all. Huh???

I fell right into the Arms of Venus de Milo."

"Eloquent words abound here, about Annene...and it goes without saying that none of those words no matter how well they are put together, quite describes her.

I will not be so eloquent, I will just say that as one can see by all the tributes posted here about Annene that two or three things jump out.

One, that Annene is a great photographer, perhaps as great as Ansel Adams, or any who came before.

Two, that Annene is unique, one of a kind, often imitated, never duplicated. Just when you think you have her figured out, she smiles and gently knocks you on your butt with something unexpected.

Thirdly, and most important of all, Annene is one of those addicting personalities. She knows no stranger, and the longer to know her, the more you love her. From the tributes posted here, I would have to say that Annene is loved by many, many people. That perhaps is the greatest tribute of all! Annene, I/we love you."

    Zen Cat says:

"It’s amazing how we can go to the market, drop in at sears, stop at Firestone to get the tires rotated, and simply be part of these very venues day after day and have their images pass into oblivion. It’s even more eerie how one can walk down the same block, go to the same post office or sit in a classroom, airport, bus station or local burger joint and never really see what is in front of them. Someone once said, “The camera helps us to learn the art of seeing.”

Well Annene has an uncanny talent for doing just that - to see. Going through her photostream you will find images that you see every minute of every day when it comes to your moving about and without thought these very same images slip comfortably into the unconscious. The world would not be the world without this array of form around us. In short she takes the invisible world of our surroundings and turns it into a visual titillating art form to be appreciated."

The innumerable drab apartment complexes sprawled across southern California become great, jutting monoliths, stabbing into the hazy sky and I cannot turn away; a line of windows on an exterior wall become a delicate balance of geographic proportions. What's the best thing one can say? These are inspiring."

"Annene is a house with uncountable rooms. Once you have entered it, beware not to get lost. Behind every door you will find another room and another room and another room, containing fascinating new things to discover. You will find large ones sheltering all kinds of a species, and small ones with only the highest art of its kind. The cellar is a labyrinth with numerous catacombs, showing dark relics from long gone times and the attic consists of ateliers where the light floods through the windows and beauty has found its home. If you now think, oh, this is too much for me, just go to the kitchens. Once you found those, you will never want to leave again. And that is good, because the neighbourhood is weird."
