About Us

We love colour and prefer to work in colour than B&W although we also love the 'feel' of B&W as it can create some great textures and really simplify an image down to its very essence.

Photographers who inspire us include the awesome Ansel Adams, Julia Margaret Cameron who just picked up a camera in middle age and accidentally became a pioneer of relaxed almost candid portraiture and then both Eve Arnold and Margaret Bourke-White for simple, strong and striking images.

David Ward's 'simplicity' also inspires, giving us a name for the style we were already developing in our own work.

All of you amazing photographers here on Flickr regularly inspire us - to shoot something, to go somewhere, to try a new technique - so a big thank you to all of you.

We like to shoot 'simply' and I hope this reflects in our work but we also have our moments of being the trigger-happy snap-happy type of photographer. We like being able to 'capture' something before it goes, before it changes, the idea of an image being a permanent record for posterity.

Our Equipment

We're currently shooting on a Canon DSLR but the images here are from older cameras too including a not-the-world's-best compact and a bridge. We use ambient lighting for a lot of our images but for 'studio' set ups we use on camera flash and continuous lighting.
