Paul Nichols says:
"I should probably have written this a while ago, but I guess late is better than never!
There aren’t many photos in Adam’s photostream, but as I sit here browsing through them it’s evident those few images are a perfect representation of what he’s about both as a photographer and as a person.
When viewing Adam’s non-aviation work several things are very evident. Firstly, his eye for composition. This is something I noticed even in the very first aviation images Adam ever sent me before he bought a DSLR. He has an absolute natural ability to arrange things within the frame in a balanced way, regardless of the subject. Secondly, he’s incredibly sympathetic towards what he shoots. He takes a photograph of a scene as though he were a part of that scene himself and has some special, intrinsic knowledge of how to put it across. Through this ability, it’s easy for the viewer to connect with the places he captures. His ‘Non Stopping Service’ and ‘Piccadilly Circus’ long exposures in London portray the mood of the city so perfectly you feel you could almost be there. The movement and restlessness of the City are captured perfectly; but it isn’t just these images that show Adam’s remarkable ability to express the mood of a place. His work allows you to feel the loneliness of a bleak and foggy train station; experience the might of a Boeing 747 rotating… See just how beautiful evening light can be…
I believe these abilities come from the kind of person Adam is because I’ve always thought personalities are very evident in anything artistic; especially photography and music. His characteristically sympathetic shooting style is certainly reflected in his own personality. If you feel a little down or depressed, he can make you feel better about yourself simply by his presence at the end of an MSN conversation window, and in person he’s one of the warmest, most thoughtful and genuine people I’ve ever met… All qualities reflected in his work as a photographer.
In short, Adam is a remarkable photographer. He’s been kind enough to say I’ve inspired him in some ways and the truth is, he's inspired me as well and he continues to do so. He inspires me in his approach, his dedication, his optimism, his caring nature and his beautifully expressive photography. Not only is he a remarkable photographer, but he’s also a remarkable person and someone I’m very, very proud to call a friend.
Spalds… You truly are a legend.
