Now in Columbia University in New York, doing a Ph.D. in Sustainable Development. My research will be focused on community based disaster preparedness and climate change adaptation in developing countries.
Summer '09 was spent in India working with the Red Cross. Read what I did here and a description of the work from the US government's National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration here.
Born and raised in Ireland, spent two years as a high school teacher in Numazu, Japan right beside Mount Fuji. I had once thought that I could never be a teacher - there are too many goodbyes. My student's graduation in 2008 was particularly difficult. 240 simultaneous goodbyes. Now however, I miss it a lot, and realise that a part of me will always want to be a teacher. It was the greatest experience of my life.
